So what are the 7 levels of the conservation of animals? The conservation of animals is on the red list which has 7 levels: (Level 1) least concern (LC), (Level 2) Near Threatened (NT), (Level 3) Vulnerable (VU), (Level 4) Endangered (EN), (Level 5) Critically Endangered (CR), (Level 6) Extinct In The Wild (EW) and (Level 7) Extinct (EX).
We will now address the meanings of the 7 levels of conservation of animals.
A species is of least concern when it has been evaluated against the criteria and does not qualify for critically endangered, endangered, vulnerable or near threatened. Widespread and abundant species are included in this category. In other ways, least concern is when a species of animal's population is not decreasing much and the population has a healthy amount of animals in that species. The least concern animal does not need care from humans as it is already growing in population and does not need to go to a breeding facility or zoo to grow in population, unlike some endangered or critically endangered species. It is known that 14,033 animal species are in the least concern level which include the bowhead whale, the Indian palm squirrel, the brown bear, the African fish eagle and so many more.
A species is Near Threatened (NT) when it has been evaluated against the criteria but does not qualify for critically endangered or vulnerable now, but is close to qualifying for, or is likely to qualify for a threatened category in the near future. In other ways, near threatened is like least concern, but its population is slowly decreasing, but not enough to get it to the vulnerable level, but it may get there in the future. Near threatened species may not need care from humans, breeding facilities and zoos as their population is still quite stable now, but when they reach the vulnerable level in the future, they might need some help. It is known that 2,657 species of animals are in the near threatened level which include the giant panda, the whale shark, the African bush elephant, the black footed ferret and so many more.
A vulnerable species is a species of animals which are likely to become endangered unless something changes. Something has to be done to remove the things that are harmful to their survival and their rate of reproduction needs to increase. Vulnerability is mainly caused by habitat loss or destruction. A vulnerable species is like a species whose population is decreasing due to something that humans are doing like deforestation causing habitat loss. A vulnerable species population is slowly becoming unstable and could land themselves in the endangered or critically endangered category if we don't remove the things that are harmful to their survival. Those species may need some human care or they might be moved to breeding facilities to stabilise their population. It is known that nearly 18,000 species of animals are in the vulnerable level which include the Bornean orangutang, the fin whale, the amur leopard and so many more.
An endangered species of animal is an animal that could be critically endangered by more poaching, habitat loss and more. That means many species have been endangered so far, so we must take care of them so they don't become extinct from Earth. Animal populations are going down fast. More than 44,000 species are endangered, so they are going down fast so we have to take care of them.
A critically endangered animal is an animal with barely any population left. Usually around 50-1,000 left is considered critically endangered. Critically endangered animals are usually caused by lack of food, shelter and multiple invasive species harming endangered animals. We need to help critically endangered animals now.
An animal that is extinct in the wild means you cannot find any of that animal species in the wild, but only in captivity. Animals that are extinct in the wild fall into our care and it leaves us no choice but to care for that animal. To prevent this we NEED TO STOP polluting, cutting down trees, trading invasive species and more. We need to help NOW, or we will lose that species.....FOREVER!
An animal that is extinct means that you cannot find that animal anymore; they are wiped out from the Earth; they do not exist anymore. This is a big problem. Animals play a big role in the ecosystem and we need them. We have to help all animals before anymore end up extinct. Between 200-2000 extinctions occur every year. And as we all know we need to take action, you can do little things everyday to help. After all, little things make big differences.
