Q: What is my login and password for the streaming exercise?
A: It is the same as your eclass login and password. Reminder: your login starts with ‘dbs’.
Q. I may have to attend a competition overseas in mid-July and cannot collect my report card, what can I do?
A: You have to approach Mr. Lau as early as possible. Usually, arrangements can be made by sending you an e-copy of your report card through email. For entering the choices of NSS streams, you can complete your choices through internet.
Questions about choices of stream
Q: Should I have to fill in all my choices?
A: It is not compulsory to fill in all the choices> However, it is advisable to make full use of your choices in case your most desired choice is unavailable.
Q: Will filling in the same choice multiple times increases my likelihood of getting into my desired stream?
A: No.
Q: Can I change my options after submission?
A: If you have pressed “finalize and confirm”, then you cannot change your options anymore. Hence, you should think thrice before pressing that button. If it is deem necessary for you to make a change of your choice, you have to approach Mr. Ng in person within 48 hours of the system cut-off time.
Questions about dropping subject(s)
Q: Is it possible for me to drop a subject?
A: Dropping subject is not permitted within the first year of the senior secondary program. Application to drop a subject is permitted after the G10 Final Exam in June.
Q. When do I submit my drop subject application?
A: Application will be accepted from mid- July to 7 September. Application will not be accepted after 15 September.
Q. How many subjects can I drop?
A: Usually, the school permits student to drop one elective. Only at special circumstance that dropping more than one subject is permitted. Even in the latter case, drop subject application is accepted once in a year.
Questions about Applied Learning
Q: If I would like to enroll Applied Learning (ApL) Course, when and where should I approach?
A: Students who would like to enroll ApL course (Mode 1) should approach the Dean of Studies in the second term of G10. The deadline for application is usually the end of February.
Q. When and where do I attend ApL course?
A: For Mode 1 ApL courses, they will be offered beyond the normal school hours i.e. on Saturdays, school holidays or evenings of normal weekdays. Applicants have to check carefully to avoid any clash between the course hours and their personal programs. The venue for the ApL courses varies, depending on the provision of the course provider.
Students taking ApL courses are required to attend lessons and participate in learning activities organized by the respective course providers. The minimum attendance requirement of all ApL courses is 80% of the total number of lessons.
Q. Do I need to pay the course fee of an ApL course?
A: For students taking THREE electives with ApL course as one of them, the course fee will be covered by the Diversity Learning Grant (DLG) from EDB and the school.
For students taking FOUR elective subjects with an ApL course as one of them, the ApL course will be regarded as the fourth elective subject and will NOT be subsidized by the DLG.
Q: If I take up an ApL course, can I drop an elective subject as I don’t want to take four electives?
A: Yes. The effective date for dropping an elective subject and replacing by an ApL course is September of G11 year.
Q: If I take ApL course in G11 and G12, do I need to register with HKEAA when I apply for HKDSE?
A: Yes. Otherwise, the result of ApL course will not be included in the HKDSE certificate.
