The School believes in nurturing students by providing a supportive learning environment that caters to every student’s needs. We strive to foster academic growth and personal development while ensuring students meet a set standard of academic achievements before progressing to the next grade level. Students who do not reach the set standard at the end of the academic year are required to repeat the same grade in the following academic year.
Evaluation Meetings will be held after the Mid-year Examination to identify students in danger of failing to meet the set standard of academic achievements. At the evaluation meetings, Deans, Academic Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinators, Class Teachers, Subject Teachers, Social Workers and Teachers-in-charge of Extra-curricular Activities (ECAs) will discuss the following areas of the students in each grade:
1. Academic performance (i.e., Form Position (Overall Rank) as an indication of student's overall abilities and attaining passing grades in English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics as an indication of student's basic competencies)
2. Non-academic performance
3. Conduct
4. Attitude
5. Attendance
6. Any other relevant circumstances
The School will then compile a list of students who are identified as being in danger of failing to meet the set standard of academic achievements. These students will receive a warning letter in January to alert them the necessity of working harder to catch up in the second term.
Promotion Meetings will be held after the Final Examination to follow up on students who have failed to meet the set standard of academic achievements in the Final Examination. They will be required to partake in a supplementary examination held in late July. If students still perform unsatisfactorily in the supplementary examination or do not turn up for the supplementary examination, the School will recommend that they repeat the same grade in the following academic year.
