Students are required to attain a set academic standard and show discipline before progressing to the next grade. Students who do not reach the requirements at the end of an academic year would be asked to repeat the year.
Evaluation Meetings will be held after the Mid-year Examination to identify students in danger of failing to meet the academic and discipline requirements. At the evaluation meetings, deans, curriculum coordinators, class teachers, subject teachers, the school social worker, and teachers-in-charge of extra-curricular activities (ECAs) will discuss the following areas regarding relevant students:
Academic performance (The form position is used as an indication of a student's overall abilities. Passes in English Language, Chinese Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies indicate the student's basic competencies.)
Non-academic performance (ECAs)
Conduct
Attitude
Attendance and lateness
Other disciplinary issues
Any other relevant circumstances
Students identified as being in danger of failing to meet the academic and discipline requirements will receive a warning letter in January to alert them to the necessity of working harder to catch up in the second term.
Promotion Meetings will be held after the Final Examination to follow up on students who have received a warning letter. If those students fail to attain a set academic standard in the Final Examination, they will be required to partake in a supplementary examination in the last week of July. If students still perform unsatisfactorily in the supplementary examination or if they do not turn up for the supplementary examination, the School will recommend that they repeat the year.
