Happy Spring!
We are very quickly coming to a close on this school year with under two months left! Encourage your student(s) to go along with a spring clean and search for any Library books that should be returned. Students will be aloud to check out books through the first week of June- last day to checkout will be Friday June 5th.
The Library will have a selection of books that have been "discarded" (through no fault of the books) that students may take home over the summer and add to their personal library. All discarded books will have library barcodes replaced with the students name, granting ownership. Remind your student(s) to ask Ms. Spike about our "Take n' Keep" section!
Happy April!
Use our new online catelog to help your student plan which books they would like to checkout this year!
LIBRARY JOKE OF THE MONTH
Why was the dinosaur afraid to go to the Library?
Because her books were 65 million years overdue!

Library Policy
The DCS Library has a wonderful collection of new and classic books. We don’t have every popular series (or every book IN some series) so we ask that students try their best to be responsible with their BORROWED Library books. Afterall, the Library is for each and every student at DCS. We do not ask for payment for lost or damaged books, only that students try their best to return every book they borrowed. As we remind the students- A library is a place filled with books so without those books coming back, we would not have a library!
•Students are allowed to check out 1 library book at a time.
•Students in grades 3/4/5 will be allowed to check out 2 books at a time if they have returned books every week during the first half of the year.
•Students are allowed to renew a book once, UNLESS the book has been requested by another student.
•Students are allowed 1 book on hold, for a maximum of 2 weeks.
•Students must return their previously checked out books in order to borrow another.
Example: A Student checked out Land of Stories last week, but did not bring it back today. They may choose another book to place on hold, then said book may be checked out when Land of Stories is Returned.
If a student has not returned or lost more than 3 books, an email will be sent home to construct a plan regarding future check out.
If a student looses more than 2 books, Library books will need to stay at the school.
•Emails home will be sent if students are struggling to return their books.
