Welcome back!
I'm so excited to be joining Panther Nation as your new librarian! We've had some great classes in the library so far, and I'm looking forward to getting into the school year with more exciting books and activities I hope our students will love.
Just some updates, changes, and other housekeeping things: 4th & 5th grade will get to take home 3 books per week. 2nd & 3rd will get to take home 2 books per week. Kindergarten & 1st will get to take home 1 book per week. Only 3 books may be out at a time, and must be either returned or renewed weekly if students want to check out new books. Parents, please keep reminding your students of book care! We need those books back, clean and cared for, to have a thriving library for all students.
I'm encouraging students to find a joy in reading, and that starts at home. Let's start some new traditions and routines, and come together as a family for reading time!

Library Policy
The DCS Library has a wonderful collection of new and classic books. We don’t have every popular series (or every book IN some series) so we ask that students try their best to be responsible with their BORROWED Library books. Afterall, the Library is for each and every student at DCS. We do not ask for payment for lost or damaged books, only that students try their best to return every book they borrowed. As we remind the students- A library is a place filled with books so without those books coming back, we would not have a library!
•Students in kindergarten & 1st are allowed to check out 1 library book at a time.
•Students in grades 2 & 3will be allowed to check out 2 books at a time if they have returned books every week.
Students in grades 4 & 5 will be allowed to check out 3 books at a time if they have returned books every week.
•Students are allowed to renew a book once, UNLESS the book has been requested by another student.
•Students are allowed 1 book on hold, for a maximum of 2 weeks.
•Students must return their previously checked out books in order to borrow another.
Example: A Student checked out Land of Stories last week, but did not bring it back today. They may choose another book to place on hold, then said book may be checked out when Land of Stories is Returned.
If a student has not returned or lost more than 3 books, an email will be sent home to construct a plan regarding future check out.
If a student loses more than 2 books, Library books will need to stay at the school.
•Emails home will be sent if students are struggling to return their books.
