Practice tracks (links) are designed to help aid in your practicing. The format for the majority of these videos are as follows. The etude/skill is play 5 times in the video, each time progressing faster. The first time corresponds to the slowest indicated tempo on your tracking sheet. If you let the video run its course, it will take you through all 5 proficiency levels. This will allow you to quickly ascertain what skills still need extra work and which skills you have mastered.
Helpful Hints:
Listen to the tracks first to confirm you understand the rhythms.
Sizzle and finger, or for brass, buzz and finger first.
Brass players, get in the habit of buzzing it as often as you play it. The instrument simply amplifies what you put in it, so the quality of the buzz is super important
Listen often to examples of your instrument to help develop a quality concept of sound, articulation characteristics, and musical phrasing.
