This is a lacrosse goal and shooting targets that I made with a welder and CNC Machine. I designed the targets in Fusion360 and sketched the goal on paper. The first thing I did was make a prototype shooting target. Once I got the design perfect I made two shooting targets that I would use. After that, I cut the metal that I would use for the goal. I then started welding the goal together. Once that was done, I strung the net onto the goal and attached the targets.
This is a picture of the targets before I cut the 1/4" metal rod. I used 3/4" plywood for the targets. After I cut the rod, I used epoxy to glue the rod into the targets.
This is a picture of the goal before fully I attached the netting. I bought $10 netting that is normally used to protect your garden from animals. I bought it off of amazon. I used string twine to attach the net.
One thing that went well during this project was the welding and the using the CNC to cut my targets out. It was very easy to weld the metal together because I took my time prepping properly. I very happy with the overall finished product. A challenge that I faced during this project was attaching the net. The net was very thin and hard to pull evenly on the tightness to that it is tensioned evenly. If I ended up redoing this project, I would buy a better net. The net that I bought was very cheap and not meant for what I used it for. After I took these pictures, I shot on the net for a few minutes and after about 5 minutes, it started to rip where the string connected the net to the frame. I am planning on buying a better net and re-stringing it so that this goal can work properly.
