These are car window surfboards that I made. It is a piece of 1/4" wood with 1/8" fins that was designed in Adobe Illustrator and cut by a laser cutter. On one of the surfboards there is an engraved photo. On the other one, there is a sticker that I designed in Photoshop and then printed. It was printed by a vinyl sticker printer.
This is the final product. This is the surfboard that was cut and engraved by the laser cutter. I made a lead from a portion of rope that had plastic in it so when you cut it, you can twist the end after burning it to make the ends not fray.
This is the surfboard that was only cut by the laser cutter. I stuck the sticker that I printed to the top of this surfboard. With both of the surfboards, before I glued the fins in, I sanded the whole board and also rounded the edges to soften the feel and look.
One thing that went well during this project was the sizing. I wasn't sure how big I wanted the board at first so I made the width 2" and the length 7". I was very happy with the size after the first prototype so I kept it the same throughout the whole project. A challenge that I faced during this project was having to design the shape of the board. I used a reference photo but it took me about 45 minutes. I don't think I'd want to redo this project, it is everything I had imagined it to be.
