This is a marble maze that I made with the CNC Machine and the Laser Cutter. It was designed in Adobe Illustrator and then exported into Fusion360. After I exported it, I extruded everything to make the walls. Then I cut it out on the CNC. I then designed the acrylic shape in Illustrator and then sectioned the different colors out. Then I laser cut each color of acrylic separately and glued them together. After the acrylic was glued together, I put the marble in the maze glued the acrylic in.
This is a picture of the maze after I sanded the edges. I also used a flush trim bit on the router table to get rid of the tabs. After that, I used a 1/4" round over bit to round the edges.
This is a screenshot of my acrylic design in Illustrator. The colors are for my reference when assembling and so I could isolate the correct color for laser cutting. I used the outline of my maze file as a templete for the edge.
One thing that went well during this project was the acrylic process. It only took me one try to cut the acrylic and it was a perfect fit. I very happy with the overall finished product. A challenge that I faced during this project was designing the maze. The lines kept doubling so when I brought it into Fusion360, it wouldn't extrude properly. I think that if I ended up redoing this project, I would try to glue the acrylic together a little better. It looks a little bit sloppy in some spots because the glue seeped thru the cracks and pooled on the other side.
