In this project, we had to make a maze out of an image that we come up with. I chose to make a maze out of an image of a quarter. The technology that I used during this project was the CNC to cut the general maze shape and the laser cutter to make the acrylic cover for the maze. We used Adobe illustrator to make the general shape of the maze from a top down perspective, then we sent the file to fusion 360 to start the manufacturing process.
During this project, I found a way to use the required tool in Adobe illustrator efficiently and quickly. I also could use fusion 360 pretty efficiently since I've used that program a few times before. I think that this project generally went pretty well, although there were a couple rough spots.
When making the maze, I didn't account for the space between the walls and the marble, so I made the marble path exactly the width of the marble, causing us to need a slightly smaller marble. Also, the quarter inch drill bit that would normally be the tool that we'd use to cut didn't give enough detail so I ended up using the eighth inch bit, making the CNC job much longer.
If I were to do this project again, I'd want to do a different image because doing the same image would be boring. I would also make the wall spaces the correct distance so that the marble can fit.
