Requirements:

1. Study topic content and participate in a focused discussion with peers working on the same topic.

Someone once asked me, "How do you come up with all your ideas and remember them?" I love technology, but there are times I love writing on paper. I keep a writing journal with me at all times. Inside, you will find notes and drawing of things I have found on the web, social media, from my friends, at trainings, etc. I even keep it beside my bed and wake up at night, jotting down my thoughts! It is my way to keep my creative mind going.

Watch the video: Do schools kill creativity?

Question prompt: Do you think creativity has a place in your classroom? Are we killing creativity in the classroom? Watch the video and reflect in your own journal thoughts about the video.

2. Read the article, 19 Ideas to promote more creativity in your classroom, by Anna Guerrero.

When you are finished, use the checklist provided and check off the ideas you are currently using in the classroom. Select one of the 19 ideas, you are not doing and share on Flipgrid how your students could be using that idea in detail. Make sure to select the green circle under creativity ideas. It's your choice! Watch other video posts and comment on at least two posts.

Some strategies to think about when you are creating your lessons:

Think Creatively

  • Use a wide range of idea creation techniques (such as brainstorming)
  • Create new and worthwhile ideas (both incremental and radical concepts)
  • Elaborate, refine, analyze and evaluate their own ideas in order to improve and maximize creative efforts

Work Creatively with Others

  • Develop, implement and communicate new ideas to others effectively
  • Be open and responsive to new and diverse perspectives; incorporate group input and feedback into the work
  • Demonstrate originality and inventiveness in work and understand the real world limits to adopting new ideas
  • View failure as an opportunity to learn; understand that creativity and innovation is a long-term, cyclical process of small successes and frequent mistakes

Implement Innovations

  • Act on creative ideas to make a tangible and useful contribution to the field in which the innovation will occur
