What does LETRS EC Stand for?

Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading for Early Childhood Teachers. In the LETRS EC Course, Early childhood educators gain new skills to help the youngest learners build a literacy foundation from the first step, even before learning to read and write. Educators learn best practices for developmentally appropriate, evidence-based routines and instruction impacting the delivery of playful, purposeful instruction essential for the development of early literacy skills.

what are the requirements of the letrs ec course?

Each participant must attend the Kick-Off Event (1.5 hours), complete the reading and assignments in the LETRS EC Manual (7 hours), complete the LETRS EC Online Coursework, including the Bridge to Practice Activities (15 hours), and attend all four live virtual training sessions (12 hours). i have a conflict on the day i have a live virtual training session scheduled. What Should i do?

We understand that emergencies happen. Please contact our support team at prekrise.support@ade.arkansas.gov and we will provide different options for you to receive the live virtual training.

Please note - please allow 48 hours for our team to contact you and to make arrangements. 

I did not receive my certificate from the LIve virtual training session that I attended. how can i get my certificate?

Please contact the Lexia Learning Support Team using the information listed below.  They will help you in obtaining the attendance certificate from the training session.

Please note - Our ADE EC Team is also keeping attendance during each live virtual training session. Once all the required elements are completed, including all four live virtual training sessions, our team will enter the information into PDR and participants will receive a certificate showing 35.5 hours of professional development from the PDR Registry.

I haven’t received my LETRS learning platform login credentials!

You may need to complete your account setup. If you have not done that yet, please see LETRS First-Time Login.

If you have not received an email with login information, please check with the person in charge of the LETRS implementation at your school or district to make sure you have an account, and that your email address is entered correctly into the LETRS learning platform.

If you still can’t log in to LETRS after verifying that you have an account and that your email address is correct, please contact Lexia Customer Support.

How many hours of professional Development will i receive for completing the LETRS EC PD Course?

Each participant that successfully completes all requirements of the LETRS EC PD will receive 35.5 hours of professional development. All hours will be listed on the Professional Development Registry (PDR). 

I cannot remember my username or password to access the online coursework. What do i do?

Can you provide more information on the letrs ec assessments?

Each participant will take several assessments throughout the LETRS EC Course. The pretest and posttest can only be taken one time. Participants' growth will be assessed using the pretest and posttest scores. If participants score an 80% or higher, they will receive a certificate of mastery. If participants score lower than 80%, they will receive a certificate of completion. 

The course also has end-of-unit assessments that participants will get two chances to complete. Doing well on these assessments will help prepare participants for the posttest. 

what does successful completion of the LETRS EC COUrse mean?  (important stipend information)

Each participant that successfully completes the LETRS EC Professional Development Course will receive a stipend of $500. Successful completion is evaluated through the knowledge gained and the intent to change. Participants must show growth from their pretest score to their posttest score and complete all Bridge to Practice activities. Bridge to Practice Activities will be checked randomly by the ADE EC Team.

Our team will offer Posttest help sessions in order to prepare each participant to feel comfortable taking the posttest. This 1-hour session is not mandatory but will help participants know what to expect while taking the final test.

What are the Bridge to practice activities and what is required?

The Bridge to Practice Activities helps practitioners put into practice what they have recently learned.

Sometimes participants have trouble completing the reflection pieces that they are to journal online. We are working with the company to help with this issue. If at any point you cannot complete your online journal, please record your thoughts and reflections in a notebook. If you are randomly selected to turn in your Bridge to Practice activities, we will let you know how to turn in what you documented.
