Activity Fair

Featuring hands-on exhibits, demonstrations, and activities designed by Davidson faculty, staff, and students, the activity fair will bring out the curiosity in kids of all ages!  Join us to create your own scale model of the Solar System, explore Earth's magnetic field, role-play the motions of the Earth, and let your creativity shine as you interact with our various exhibits.  While no two star party events at Davidson are ever the same, we invite you to explore some photos from past events below! 

What are some of the fun activities that await you at the 2025 Davidson Space Day?  

• Learn how big the Solar System is by walking our scale model!

• Take a tour of the planets to learn how they are each unique.

• Explore black holes as you watch marbles swirl into a gravity well!

• Help us cook up a comet to understand what they are made of.

• Design, decorate and launch your own stomp rockets.

• Explore how astronomy was important to cultures throughout history.

• Build a sundial and learn how to use it to keep time.

• Observe what happens when marshmallows, balloons, water, and more are placed into a vacuum chamber!

• Examine a meteorite collection, courtesy of our friends at the Piedmont Amateur Astronomers Club!

• Create a work of art as you drop "asteroids" on the "Moon!"

• Learn about many fun and quirky space facts at our public lecture.
