Purchase your flights with money out-of-pocket.
Make an advance purchase of your flight and wait for your Financial Aid Refund to become available at the start of your study away term.
You can request your refund through DartHub and it usually takes a few days to process.
If the previous options are not possible, then you can book your ticket through the College’s travel service, ALTOUR. Though it is important to note that ALTOUR is not obligated to get you the best deal on flights; they only need to get you where you need to go by the time you need to arrive. So, if you have found or think you will find a better deal on flights on your own, you may be able to access a portion of your refund early to purchase your flights out-of-pocket. Please talk to Financial Aid to see if this is an option.
If you do choose to book via ALTOUR, you need to initiate this process with Financial Aid to ensure you will have an ample refund to cover the cost. Your flight will then be charged to your D-Pay account, where your expected refund would cover the cost directly.
High-need Financial Aid students can obtain funds for non-billable budget items like flights via a financial aid “refund.” Some high-need students not only will owe nothing on their billing statement but will have enough aid leftover to cover their round-trip transportation and other costs after their billed charges are paid.
This option is only available to students who will have a large enough refund available in their accounts to cover the travel charge. Please contact Financial Aid with questions about this option.
