DMS Magnet Courses

This course studies the human ancestry, how our cultures developed, and how we study past cultures today.

This course studies advanced genetics concepts. We will learn how to mutate DNA, track Genetic Disorders, and about the fields of Biotechnology.

This course studies the field of computer design and engineering. Students in this course will learn CAD concepts and use them to create design to solve real-world problems.

This course studies the basics of chemistry, including atomic structures, properties and how bonds form. This is the first course in the Chemistry Sequence.

This course continues the study of chemistry with topics including chemical reactions, classifications, and thermodynamics.

This course studies the basic anatomy and functions of all of the nine animal phyla by physical examination. This course includes dissections as part of the required content.

This course studies the field of media production. Students will have the opportunity to create new digital products using a variety of apps and programs.

This course studies the latest trends and discoveries in the different fields of science, including discoveries of the current year.

This course studies how biotic and abiotic factors come together to create ecosystems throughout our world and what they have to teach us about being living members of the planet.

This is the introductory forensics course in our program and studies the basic building blocks of criminology and forensic investigations.

This is the second forensics course in our program and explores many of the specialties in the field of criminology and forensic investigations.

This is the introductory genetics course in our program and studies the basics of this growing field of study and allows students to see how they became the physical being that they are. Students who complete this course are able to take the more advanced Applied Genetics Course.

This course studies the Earth and how its natural processes lead to dynamic changes and events throughout the planet. Topics include Plate Tectonics, Seismology, and Vulcanology.

This course studies how marketing and design processes come together as a real world career opportunity. Students will explore the design process and apps that are real-world explorations of this field.

This course introduces students to the magnet program and studies the processes of science and design to set students up for success in the rest of their magnet experience.

This course studies the modern taxonomic system of all living things. Students will have an opportunity to explore the three domains of life and their associated kingdoms.

This course studies the mammalian body plan with a focus on the human body systems. Students will complete real world physiological experiments and explorations of the body and look at the physical anatomy of comparable mammals. This course includes dissections as part of the required content.

This course studies ocean ecology and biodiversity with focus on the ocean's many communities and our influences upon this biome.

This course studies the microscopic world including the cellular components and interactions of their own body.

This course studies the processes involved in creating, producing, and distributing music.

This course studies the physical world from the perspective of Newtonian Physics. Students will explore different forms of forces and motion and how their interactions control many aspects of our lives.

This course studies the physical world will a focus on energy and how its forms and interactions allow for all matter, biotic and abiotic to exist and function in the natural world.

This course is a semester course that allows students to learn the coding process and use it to control a robot of their own design in order to complete a set of challenges.

This course is a science free-for-all that allows students to explore a variety of science topics and skills in a competitive setting. These applied lessons are presented as challenges and game-like experiences.
