REFLECTIONS
Reflecting on your experiences is an essential part of the CAS program and a lifelong skill that can help you gain perspective and take better decisions in the future.
How to write a reflection for a CAS experience?
Your reflection should answer these three questions:
What did I do?
How did I feel?
What did I learn?
How to write a reflection for the CAS Project?
Your reflection should describe the five CAS stages:
Investigation
When deciding if you should do the project or not.
Preparation
When gathering the resources needed to do the project.
Action
When performing the project.
Demonstration
What you have learnt from the project.
Reflection
What do you take away from the project after completion.
How to write a reflection for the Semester Report?
Grade 11 and 12 students are expected to write a reflection in the Semester Report to comment on their CAS engagement.
What is the difference between Reflection and Evidence?
Reflection shows your thoughts and feelings about the experience
Evidence proves you participated (photos, certificates, email, etc.)
Both are needed for all experiences
Remember...
Purposeful reflection is about quality rather than quantity.
Remember, your reflections are the evidence that you have met the Learning Outcomes
Not all reflections need to be written paragraphs:
Photographs or drawings with reflective captions
Compose a song on an experience
Produce a short video
Record a solo reflection or group discussion
