Principal Welcome
On behalf of all the staff members, welcome to Leaders Heights Elementary. I would like the opportunity to share with you some information about our school community.
Leaders Heights Elementary has a rich tradition which has focused on developing the skills and talents of our students. The focus is on developing the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. We are a K-3 building that implements the rigorous DASD Elementary curriculum. Our classrooms are heterogeneously grouped and our students are given numerous opportunities to demonstrate success. Our ultimate goal is to enhance the skills of our students so that they desire to be lifelong learners who will become high functioning, productive members of society.
Leaders Heights Elementary has professional staff members and support staff members who are extremely dedicated to the students we serve. These staff members bring to our students a rich background of knowledge and experiences. We all appreciate the opportunities we have to impact Leaders Heights students in a positive way.
Leaders Heights Elementary has a very active PTO organization. Their hard work and dedication has a profound impact on our Leaders Heights learning community. This organization’s strong leadership, support, encouragement, and commitment to their goal to support and encourage students reinforce the learning gains of the students and staff.
Please feel free to contact any of us at Leaders Heights if you would like more information about our school. It would be our pleasure to assist you. Have a wonderful school year.

Car Rider Information
Arrival Procedure:
Students who are eating breakfast may enter the building between 8:15-8:30 AM. Please pull up to the front of the bus dock curb to drop them off. The rest of the students are not permitted to enter the building before 8:30 AM. Buses are prioritized from 8:30-8:35 AM. Cars should wait, starting at the LH mailbox, to be called forward to drop off their children after the buses exit. Parents are encouraged to have their children sit in their vehicles where they can easily exit on the passenger’s side. Parents are reminded that they should not get out of their vehicles during this time. From 8:30-8:50 AM, students will be permitted to enter the building and walk to their classrooms. The official school day begins at 8:50 AM. If your child arrives after 8:50 they will need to be escorted into the building by an adult and signed in at the front office.
Dismissal Procedure:
Students riding the buses will be dismissed starting at 3:35 PM. Car Riders will not be dismissed until all buses have left the campus. The first parent to arrive should park near the LH mailbox on the right-hand side of our circle driveway. If you arrive and find that the rear of the vehicle ahead of you is at Indian Rock Dam Road, move past that first line of cars on the right side of the drive and form a second line on the inside of the circle, stopping at the sign that states, “Start 2nd Line for Student Pickup”. The second line would then follow after the first line of cars so that all students get into their cars from the porch. Student car riders have been asked to remain on the porch until an adult on duty has dismissed them to their cars. Parents should not get out of their cars. Children should enter the car and buckle in. Those who have issues buckling are welcome to pull forward and then pull over along the grass to make sure they are properly secured. We will not allow students to cross the driveway because of safety concerns.
Choose Love
Our school, along with the other K-3 buildings in the district, will be incorporating fun, engaging, Learning Through Play activities and a program called Choose Love for Schools which plays an important role in promoting students' social and emotional well-being, and academic and personal success. It also enhances our classroom and school climate, making it a place where students are safe, compassionate, connected, and able to thrive.
The Choose Love for Schools Program is a comprehensive curriculum that supports, nurtures, and fosters the whole child. Students will learn skills and tools they will use throughout their lives, to be honest, trustworthy, caring and compassionate, self-disciplined, intellectually curious, fair, and respectful.
Students learn how to thoughtfully respond by choosing love. The program’s foundation is a formula: Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion in Action = Choosing Love. We use courage daily to choose love over fear. Practicing gratitude helps us focus on what we have. Forgiveness is the key to healthy relationships and compassion in action helps us connect with and help others.
We hope you will share in this journey with your children, asking questions about what they have learned and enjoying the benefits of the program as well. Please check out the Choose Love At Home Program for families and caregivers. You can learn alongside your children and incorporate these skills and tools to promote Social and Emotional Learning in your home, and even within yourself! www.chooselovemovement.org.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the building principal for more information.
