Science Department

Department Overview

Welcome Spartan Scientist!

The focus of the Samuell Science Department is student achievement, college and career readiness, and academic success through investigation and inquiry. Through these processes students will be able to learn and showcase higher order thinking, critical reading and writing skills. In these current challenging and unprecedented times of global pandemics and climate change, an understanding of and respect for Science is more important than ever. In order to be properly informed, we need to increase Science literacy amongst the next generation. Science literacy is the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity. Scientific literacy encompasses written, numerical, and digital literacy as they pertain to understanding science, its methodology, observations, and theories.
