Parent Conferences
The weather has canceled our Parent Conference for Monday night. Stay tuned for the date. In the meantime, you can sign up for a virtual time with your student's teacher if you prefer. Link to teacher conferences

Don't be left out, we only get a few overruns to sell in May. We sold out of those in 1 hour. 12 people on the waitlist did not get a book. Link here.
Audition Days are coming
January 31st and February 7th. If you have students who are auditioning, they need to apply. Information is available on our website.
How do I know we bought a yearbook?
Send a request with your student's name and grade to booker.t.yb@gmail.com. Give us a couple of days to respond.

How do we get a student's absence excused?
No need to call, just send an email to our registrar at jariverarosario@dallasisd.org. Please include:
Student name
Student grade
Student ID number
Reason for the absence
Parent name
Parent contact info
The 5x7 Art Sale returns to the Tin District

The Art Sale features 100+ pieces of art from national artists, alums, Booker T. students and faculty, all hung anonymously and sold for $100.

Deadlines for Grants for Students
Help is available in the Library each Thursday during lunch. If you have questions, please email Tonya Perkins at tperkins@artsmagnet.org.
All applications are completed online at www.artsmagnet.smapply.org and must include:
Current transcript
Artistic resume
Family Household Income
Portfolio (photos for visual artists, set or costume design; scripts for screenwriters; or video of dance, music, theater performance)
Budget for requested item(s)
Essay- 250-300 words about how the requested item will help you succeed at Booker T and in the future
Up to 3 letters of recommendation- at least one must be from a conservatory teacher who can speak to the specifics of the request
Signed parent consent form
Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
New Poicy For All Students Applying for Advisory Board Grants:
The Advisory Board is initiating a new policy for the essay portion of the grant application. All students applying for a grant will be required to write their essay in the library during Flex/Work it Wednesday and run their essay through Turn It In software. Faculty and Advisory Board representatives will be in the library to assist with the process. For any student submitting an application for the February 1st deadline, essays can be written and submitted on January 21st or 28th. Upcoming Deadlines
December 1 - January 31 - is a rolling deadline for college auditions for seniors.
February 2, midnight - for musical instruments (no instruments for freshmen), art supplies/equipment, technology, and college visits.
April 1, midnight - for summer intensives (no intensives for seniors), art supplies/equipment, technology (no computers for seniors), and college visits.
School Family Food Pantry - Now Open to All Families!
We're excited to announce the opening of our School Family Food Pantry, designed to support our entire school community.
Stop by and browse a variety of groceries and household essentials. Families are invited to pick up items that work best for their home. No sign-up required-just a community resource available to everyone. You can also use the handy checklist and have a bag ready for pickup.
When: Monday -Friday, 8:30-4:30pm (or arrange another time independently.)
Where: School Nurses Office-Or Main Office
Whether you're grabbing a few extra ingredients for meals or exploring what's new on the shelves, we're here to make life a little easier.
