Counseling Advisory Council (CAC) and the Implementation Cycle
The Counseling Advisory Committee reviewed data collected from stakeholders to include students, parents, and staff needs assessment and campus goals. Program goals were developed based on the data collected and information shared in the CAC meeting. The two biggest concerns were attendance and the number of students being denied credit based on attendance and identifying and recognizing student achievement. The CAC agreed that counselors would take an active role in helping students understand how attendance directly affects their ability to meet graduation requirements. Counselors will create a student-centered and high-engagement activity to be presented to the student body. Counselors will also help foster improved attendance by conducting parent calls/meetings, individual and group student meetings, serving on the Attendance for Credit (AFC) committee, and creation of individualized student plans. The CAC agreed to target and identify students for a multi-tiered celebration of student success and determination each 9 weeks. Students who are passing all classes and with fewer than 5 absences will be recognized with a personal letter and certificate. Students earning a place on A or A/B Honor Roll will be recognized via a 9 weeks achievement social held during the school day.
