The Wolverines saw a lot of growth in the sport both on staff and roster size.
Led by coaches Steve Green, Ashlie Smith, John Millican, and Dustin White, Dade County dressed out 36 athletes for the season.
The school hosted three meets including the Dade County Classic, the Dade County Mountain Clash and the Tri-State Run.
Dade showed their potential in the first meet of the year when the Wolverines went to North Murray to run against Northwest Whitfield, North Murray, Dalton High, and Adairsville. Being the smallest team at the meet, the DCHS boys finished 2nd overall with Dalton High (AAAAA school) winning the meet.
The Wolverines invited Gordon Lee, Lafayette High, Cornerstone Christian, and North Sand Mountain to the mountain to run in the Dade County Classic. The boys team won the meet by 40 points with several top 3 finishes. The girls showed a lot of promise with freshman Kiera Hughes winning the 100 and 200 meters and junior Raegan Page winning the pole vault.
The boys competed at the Gordon Lee Invitational later in the season and finished 4th out of 11 teams, again being the smallest team by classification at the meet.
At the region 7-A meet, the Wolverines, both boys and girls, overachieved. They set a season best 26 personal records with the boys finishing only 20 points behind Pepperell High for 3rd as a team. Fifteen athletes finished in the top 4 to go to the sectional round.
From there, four Wolverines went to the state meet, all placing in the top 8 in the state.
By the end of the season, Dade broke 15 school records.
