Ashlie Smith is in her ninth year in the Dade County district (five years at Dade Middle School and four years at Dade High School) and is entering her fourth year in the Dade County Track program. She serves as the hurdles coach and works as our bullpen clerk during our home meets.
Ashlie is a 2010 graduate of Bulloch Academy, where she ran track and field in high school. Her teams were tremendously successful winning 2 region titles and 2 state titles in the GISA AA division during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
She has helped develop two superlative male hurdlers in Brody Cooper and Jace Anderson. Brody was a 2022 7-AA region champion in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. He finished sixth for the 110 meter hurdles in the GHSA AA state division in 2022 and fifth in GHSA Division 1 A 2023. In 2023, Jace finished 4th for the 300 meter hurdles in GHSA Division 1 A as only a sophomore. For the 2024 season, he clinched the Region Title for the 300 meter hurdles, and would go on to finish the season 5th in the State for the event, setting a new PR and School Record in the process.
Coach Green comments:
Ashlie was here before I came to Dade County and had already installed an enthusiasm for the sport. She is hard-working, driven, and loves her student athletes. In addition to being a excellent math teacher, to which I have personally observed, she has been a valuable asset to the track program. Our hurdlers have been very competitive and our track meets are well-managed thanks to her selfless work.
