EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES
The following extenuating circumstances will be considered as exceptions to the schedule change policy. In these circumstances, a student’s schedule may be changed beyond the deadline based upon administrative approval and seat availability in all courses affected by the change.
A different course is needed to meet graduation requirements.
The course credit was earned in summer school or via an approved correspondence course.
A situation has occurred in the student/families’ life that warrants a change in schedule or a class drop.
LEVEL CHANGES
A level change may be initiated by a student or teacher if a student is exceeding the objectives of a given course or if the student is not capable of achieving the objectives of a given course. Prior to a level change approval, a student must obtain and complete a level change form through conversation with the teacher, and signatures of approval from the division head, parent, and counselor before approval/denial will be determined. All level change approvals will be subject to seat availability in all courses affected by the change.
CLASS DROP
If a student obtains administrative approval for a class drop due to an extenuating circumstance, there will be no penalty within the first two weeks of each semester.
After the first two weeks, approval of a class drop will result in a grade of W (withdrawal).
After four weeks, approval of a class drop will result in a grade of WF (withdrawal fail).
After 60 days, approval of a class drop will result in a grade of F (fail).
NOTE: Grades of W or WF are not calculated into a student’s grade point average.
