Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)
AVID is offered for 9th-12th graders. Students can come into AVID at any year–they do not need prerequisite years of AVID. As long as students have goals to attend some type of post-secondary education. Here is the contract students and parents must sign and agree to in order to be in the class. In terms of structure: 4 days each week are skill building/activities and 1 day each week is work time.
AVID is an elective (program) that supports students in building their academic skills while planning for their post-secondary futures. Each grade level builds on the work of the previous year to ensure our students continue to progress. AVID strives to provide support to the content area classes through scheduled work days, grade checks focused notes, as well as Tutorials in the AVID classroom.
