In this article, Jack discusses Time Machine Records, including an interview with the owner.
Time Machine Records & Boutique is a music shop in Grants Pass founded in 2017. They mainly specialize in vinyl but have many cassettes and CDs. There is a wide variety of genres and artists, allowing customers to find an album by The Beatles from the 80s, and then move 10-15 feet and find a brand new Kendrick Lamar album.
Time Machine Records also trades and buys albums, making it easier to buy albums on a budget. And even if a new album just came out, the store owners will most likely get it in the next week, depending on how popular it is. They also have a selection of Vinyl players, CD Players, speakers and more.
Jesse Ostriecher, the owner of Time Machine Records & Boutique, was excited to answer questions about the store and himself. His favorite part of working at the store is that he gets to listen to music all day and he gets to meet interesting people. Ostriecher has been a musician his whole life and was having a kid, which was his inspiration for opening and keeping the store. After he had a kid, he wanted to settle down but stay in music, so he opened up a record store. His favorite of the media he sells is vinyl. Jessie's favorite genre as a kid was punk, but now jazz because it is calmer. His favorite album was Nevermind by Nirvana.
Reviews from Google Maps show a 4.9 out of 5-star rating for Time Machine Records, with many people pointing out the wide variety of music and great service. For example, Eric Houghton on Google Maps reviews wrote “Amazing selection of used and new LPs. Fair prices, and accurate quality ratings so you know you’ll get something worth spinning." Another review, from Greg Monroe states, "Best record store in Southern Oregon. The owner is incredibly nice and personable."
Overall, Time Machine Records is a great spot to find all varieties of music, and is a neat local business. Thank you, Jessie, for giving me time to interview you.
