It is the question of the ages! Why should YOU read when the alternative-- just not reading-- seems so much more effortless? Chances are that you have been succumbed to the numbing pain of constant curriculum-based reading or were consistently under the pressure of meeting a reading deadline and thus have little opportunity to actually explore what you enjoy as a reader. It is almost like curriculum-based education is crushing our passions! No shade (...maybe a little shade). While I lack the persuasive skills to effectively make every single reader of The Scroll suddenly have the burning passion to indulge themselves in the world of prose, I can at least provide some fun GPHS-facilitated activities to hopefully rile up what little motivation rests in your cold, dead high-schooler hearts-- and, if all else fails, maybe reading will help you to learn big-boy words, like "vehemently", so that you can impress your peers and perhaps... a few cute girls ;).
Book Club is back! They'll be reading by theme this year, aligned to the reading challenge. Their first meeting is November 17th at 2:45 pm and the theme for the month is books turned into movies. So mark it on your calendar, or store it deep into the recesses of your brain! Maybe you can make some friends while bonding over some rad books. More info on the GPHS Library Canvas course! Updates with Zoom link will come out soon. Contact Ms. Weber for more information if you are interested.
GPHS 2020-2021 Book Reading Challenge
Sometimes, all the motivation you need to do something is a good challenge and a mysterious prize. With the bingo-based reading event, you'll hopefully be able to work up the motivation to read, and even explore some new genres or old favorites to rediscover your love for reading!
