The Plot Thickens With Kimye

On Jan. 5, 2021, news got out that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had decided to bring an end to their marriage, but on Feb. 19, 2021, Kim officially filed for a divorce. Although they had been married for six years, Kim expressed that she felt they had grown apart and their lives were no longer in sync, ever since Kanye had moved to Wyoming. Kanye made the decision to buy a ranch in Wyoming in hopes of getting away so he could focus on his passions. However, his decision ultimately led to their falling out. Since then, Kim has found herself in a committed relationship and Kanye has recently become single after ending a relationship. Although Kanye has been in a relationship since the divorce, his recent Instagram posts clearly show he is having a harder time letting go.

Immediately following Kim’s divorce in early 2021 (which has not yet been finalized), Kim was really enjoying her newfound freedom of being a single woman. According to Jadie Biggs article on Kim and Kanye’s divorce for Cosmopolitan, an insider source said that Kim is supposedly feeling “like herself again.” In the same article, after speaking with a reporter from E! Online, they mentioned “she has been loving going out with friends, meeting new people and really being out and about again.” Kim really did seem to be having fun though, on Apr. 16, 2021, she was spotted partying with her friend Jonathan Cheban and taking pictures with Victoria Beckham at the Goodtime Hotel’s grand opening. Furthermore, the day beforehand, she went out with her sister’s for a huge girl’s night out. Apart from her taking some time to have fun with her family and friends, she expressed she was open to romance, according to another source from Jadie’s article. The source said that “Kim has also expressed if the right person came along, she’d be interested in dating again. She doesn’t want anything serious anytime soon but she’s been liking connecting with people.” So who would have guessed that Kim would have stumbled into such an extraordinary relationship?

On Oct. 10, 2021, Kim hosted her first-ever appearance on SNL, along with Pete Davidson. The two cosplayed Princess Jasmine and Aladdin in their skit, when they shared an on-screen kiss. After that, they spent their time going on many dates. At the beginning of their new acquaintance, Pete was having quite the time joking around with the surfacing rumors of his and Kim’s relationship. Appearing on the show Late Night with Seth Meyers at the start of November, Meyer said that he wanted to address something. He continued on to say, "I feel like I want to confirm if it's real or a rumor. This is something you've been reading about a lot in the press” referring to Pete and Kim’s relationship. Pete, aware of the joke, wittily replied, "I've been wanting to talk about this because there's a lot of people I walk by, people are whispering and making eyes at me. But it is true. I do have a show on Tubi coming out,” referencing his upcoming role in the “Freak Brothers.” Since then, they expressed to the public that they are enjoying each other's company and just getting to know one another. They have continued to enjoy their new relationship and have kept their relationship quite private.

Kanye West first met Julia Fox at a New Years Eve Miami performance on Dec. 31, 2021. Fox Described Kanye’s energy as “fun to be around” and the two’s romance started. However, after some romance lasting somewhat two months, problems started to arise with Kanye’s behavior. Their downfall started on Super Bowl Sunday when Kanye announced he had cut Kid Cudi from his new album and spent his time bashing Pete Davidson for being a backstabber for dating his ex-wife. Since his first lash-out against Pete Davidson, he has spent his time targeting Kim and Pete’s relationship with constant negative Instagram posts and comments. One post, later identified by Tik Tok after it was removed by Kanye from Instagram, was a picture of Kanye and Pete out at a dinner amongst others with Pete’s face being crossed out by a red X. The caption went as far as saying, “I JUST WANTED MY FRIEND TO HAVE MY BACK THE KNIFE JUST GOES IN DEEPER.”

Kanye has continued to post cruel words directed at Kim and Pete and has made the public begin to worry about his mental sanity. Even contributors of TikTok reporting on these events have expressed their concern for his mental state. Considering that Kanye West is a 44-year-old man, his recent behavior, simply put, has been that of a child. An example of this childish behavior is shown in one of his very first posts directed at Pete Davidson. Shown by Ellen Durney in her article for Buzzfeed about Kanye, this quickly deleted post, shared by him on Feb. 12, 2021, appears to be a handwritten note. The note said, “Just so everyone knows Cudi will not be on Donda because he’s friends with you know who we all speak in Billie language now.” These posts have since escalated, with him sharing many more brutal posts that have since been deleted. Another post with a caption again targeting Pete urged fans to yell at him at the top of their lungs: “KIMYE forever” if they see him in public.

To Kim’s triumph, she has found herself in a wonderful, blossoming relationship with Pete Davidson, despite the constant attacks from Kanye West. While Kanye West is maneuvering his mental issues and struggling with what he believes to be a betrayal from Pete. With all that being said, it is quite unfortunate that a relationship of six years that resulted in four children had to come to such a disappointing ending.
