Traditional Concurrent Enrollment

Traditional Concurrent Enrollment consists of students taking individual college courses through Pikes Peak State College that works towards their future certification, degree, or career path in general. At VRHS, students have taken 100s of different classes including but not limited to, English, communication, business, welding, computer programming, environmental science, astronomy, EMT, pre-nursing, art history, social work, psychology, sociology, and many more! All grade levels are eligible. Each student is advised on transferability, degree/certification applicability, and workload.

PPSC Career Start

In partnership with Pikes Peak State College (PPSSC), VRHS Juniors and Seniors graders are able to work towards their specific career goals through one of twelve different PPCC Career Start program options.

Students attend PPSC Monday-Friday and earn high school credit that works towards graduation requirements and their future degrees or certifications. 

PPSC Career Start is free as long as students pass their courses with Cs or higher. Each program is a year-long commitment and most program options offer 2 years of programming.

Hairstyling, Nails, and Skin Programs

In partnership with the International Salon and Spa Academy (ISSA), VRHS Juniors and Seniors are able to work towards their Hairstyling, Nail Tech, or Esthetician license.  

Students in hairstyling attend ISSA Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM and earn high school credits that work towards graduation requirements in addition to their hours that work towards their Hairstyling License. Students in the Nail or Skin programs attend ISSA Monday-Friday from 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM.

The programs are free as long as students pass their courses and with the exception of a $250 one-time fee due at the beginning of the school year. 

Each student is advised on transferability, degree/certification applicability, and workload.

Peyton Automotive

The Peyton School District offers a training program to high school students in a hands-on, working automotive shop.  This program requires students to participate in both the fall and spring semesters, and offers 2 years of programming.

Students earn credit that work towards high school graduation, and most students will take 3 general education classes through VRHS in addition to the Peyton Program classes. The classes taken through the program work towards industry-recognized certifications.

Students attend Monday-Thursday at the Peyton School District facility.  At this time, transportation is not provided.

This program is free as long as students pass their courses. 

Each student is advised on transferability, degree/certification applicability, and workload.

Students interested in the Automotive Program should complete this form.

Peyton Woods Manufacturing Program

The Peyton School District offers a training program to high school students in a hands-on, working wood-working shop.  This program is requires students to participate in both the fall and spring semesters, and offers 2 years of programming.

Students earn credit that work towards high school graduation, and most students will take 3 general education classes through VRHS in addition to the Peyton Program classes. The classes taken through the program work towards industry-recognized certifications.

Students attend Monday-Thursday at the Peyton School District facility.  At this time, transportation is not provided.

This program is free as long as students pass their courses.

D49 Construction Program

The D49 Construction Program, is aligned with industry & college partners, provides skills, training and professional industry certifications for high school students. Students enrolled in the program are held to the highest standards to ensure that successful graduates become skilled and effective future employees for many trades in the Construction Industry. While the program offers fun and excitement, it is also rigorous and demanding. Teamwork and professional skills are developed to prepare students for multiple pathways in construction.

D49 Culinary Program

Students who complete District 49's three-year Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program will learn not only food preparation and hospitality planning, but concepts in restaurant and hotel management, culinary and business mathematics, basic business law, and the computer skills necessary to perform in today’s industries.

10th-12th graders are eligible for this program.

ASCENT

ASCENT (Accelerating Students through Concurrent ENrollmenT) 12+1 is Concurrent Enrollment extended into a 5th year, providing graduating seniors one extra year of free college courses. ASCENT is available at PPCC and not available at UCCS. All ASCENT applicants should also complete their FAFSA and apply to their program/colleges of choice. If students qualify for financial aid from their program/schools of choice that exceeds ASCENT tuition, students should accept financial aid, which might include textbooks, and forfeit their ASCENT slots to students on the ASCENT waitlist.

VRHS Seniors interested in ASCENT will apply during the Fall semester of their Senior year.
