Congratulations to our 8th Grade Band on being invited to perform at the Illinois All-State Music Conference.  The concert will occur on Friday, January 30 at 8:15am in Peoria, IL.

Please check if your student has their materials for band class.  All students should have an Essential Elements Book, 1 inch binder, a pencil, their instrument, and supplies unique to their instrument (reeds, sticks, oil, grease, etc).  

Our Veterans Day Band Concert will be on Tuesday, November 4 at 7pm at DMS.  The 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Bands will be performing.

Once our students settle in to their school routines, please check to see they are adding at home practice to their weekly schedules.  DMS Band students should be practicing at least 4 times per week at home, even if only for 5 minutes per session.  Students want to practice, they want to get better, they just need reminders and encouragement.

Our 25-26 Choirs are off to a great start! All students have a binder/attendance # assigned to them. This will be their number all year for attendance and music distribution. Please remind your child to bring their binder daily with pencils and loose leaf paper. 

Bella Voce auditions will continue during lunches in first two weeks of September. The list will be posted by 9/12 and the first rehearsal will occur on 9/16. Please remember to read the information letter if your daughter is auditioning to know what to expect if they make the group. 

Valiant Voices is our all boy non-auditioned singing group that meets one morning a week. We have a lot of fun learning a variety of music! The first rehearsal will start Thursday September 11th at 8:00am. Please read the information letter and encourage your son to join us and check out our first rehearsal! 

Please be sure that any new chorus members (6th grade, or new 7th/8th graders) order a music polo before September 19th on the D300 Webstore. 

8th Grade Chorus will participate in the D300 Choral Festival this year on Monday October 20th. Please mark your calendars for this evening performance at Hemmens Auditorium.

Our Holiday concert is on December 16th at 7:00pm in the Main Gym. 

Welcome DMS Orchestra families!

We sent home packets of the 2025-26 Orchestra Hand Book. Make sure your student turns in the back signature page to Ms. Wood or Mrs. Benge as soon as possible.

We also welcome our long term substitute teacher, Ms. Carr, while Mrs. Benge is on Maternity leave. She is very excited to work with our DMS Orchestra students.

We are still awaiting approval on our final concert date in May. We will let you know as soon as we do!!

6th grade students need to have their orchestra books from last year, Essential Elements for Strings Book 1. The 7th and 8th grade students need new method books for class. 7th grade orchestra students need Essential Elements Book 2 for their specific instrument. 8th grade students need Essential Technique Book 3 for their specific instrument. 

Our first DMS Orchestra concert is November 12th, 2025 @ 7pm in the Gym.
