During the first week of March, the Low Incidence classrooms celebrated Read Across America week. Teachers, Administration, and students from DMS came to our classrooms and read books to us. Some stories were our guests' favorite stories that they loved to read and some were our favorite stories that are in our classrooms. Thank you to everyone that was able to come and celebrate during that week. We had a lot of fun seeing everyone and listening to all the new books!
This past month we had fun out in the community again. Two of the low incidence classrooms went to Home Depot and Burger King. While at Home Depot, the students participated in a scavenger hunt for department items. They had to determine the correct department, correct aisle, price of item, and use the next dollar up method. After Home Depot, we went to Burger King for lunch. While there, the students practiced ordering their meal, paying for their meal, and using appropriate social and behavioral skills while in the restaurant and within the community.
