College Confidential - a site with a lot of information including lots of "advise" from users, take this information with a grain of salt. Target audience is students, though many parents use the site as well.
College Board - a wonderful, comprehensive site with loads of information on all parts of the college admissions process. Well worth creating an account though it is not needed.
College Navigator - provides detailed information about different institutions, including programs and majors, admissions considerations and more. This site is sponsored by the National Center for Education Statistics.
Liberal Arts Colleges - site sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges and dedicated to the 750 independent colleges and universities across the US. Specifically details the Liberal Arts education.
College Greenlight - Great site for researching schools, scholarships and more! Contains a feature called "What Are My Chances?" this feature calculates a students chances for admissions based on the profile they build at registration and the college admissions criteria. The site is easy to navigate, has great graphics and offers lots of get tips, tools and strategies not to mention a very robust blog with tons of topics and information.
YOUniversityTV.com - this is a great site for touring a college campus and learning basic, but useful information about the school. There are also career videos and there is also an interesting option called College Hookup which has students answer questions in order to be matched with universities that meet their desired characteristics.
The Hundred Seven - a great website for researching and learning about the Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
College Horizons - great website for colleges with programs specifically to serve the Native American population
Campus Pride Index - national listing of LGBTQ friendly colleges
Overgrad - Has some neat features that will allow you to find safety, match and reach schools based on your self-reported GPA and test scores. Requires signup. Also has excellent career search information, college cost and graduation rate info as well.
