CoWriter will help you do the following:
Predict the words and phrases as you type—even if your grammar and spelling are way off.
Convert your speech into text. Click on the microphone and speak. It will turn it into text.
Write on over 4 million topics with topic-specific vocabulary.
Get word prediction across languages. Supports Spanish, French, German, and English.
Get word-by-word translation in 25+ languages. Write in your first language, and Co:Writer will translate. You can also choose the microphone button and speak the words. Co:Writer will translate.
CoWriter is a Google Chrome extension found in the row of extensions next to the URL address bar on Google Chrome.
Click on the extension to activate it. On your first use of CoWriter, login with your D118 account and allow permissions.
How to Use Speech Recognition
Click on the microphone icon.
The button will turn blue, this means it is activated and ready to use.
Begin to speak and the words text will appear in your document.
Click the microphone button again to stop recording.
Click the microphone in the bottom corner to return the word prediction box.
How to Use Translation
Enable in OPTIONS, found in the user menu, click on "translation off" to reveal a menu of languages, click on the language of choice.
Return to writing space and notice the additional option of the language support.
Students will begin to write and if needed can write in their native language. Word choices will appear in the word window and the translated words will appear as the last choice.
