Mental Health Awareness Month (May 2024)

The Wellness Center kicked off May in style, with lunchtime events occurring each Wednesday. Student engagement was high and the message was clear; your mental health matters and there are many ways to take care of it. On-campus activities included a dance competition for wellness (learning all the popular dance moves), healing through self-expressive music (hosted by Music Club), interviews with students about how to be successful at Lloyde and resource fairs (with community-based providers). So much fun. If you weren't here, you really missed out!

Let Love Grow round two (April 2024)

When Life Gives you Lemons - March 2024

Focusing on resiliency and growth mindset, the Wellness Center hosted a "when life gives you lemons" activity. Over 45 students were asked how they deal with hardships, personal challenges and the "lemons" of life. Questions also explored why some people can "make lemonade" while others get stuck in the problem. In addition to sharing how they bounce back, students were quick to point out ways in which to help their peers who might need a little help. Real lemons, sugar packs and drinks were included for participants.

Paint n' Pour - March 2024

With paint, relaxing music and fruity beverages to boot, the Wellness Center hosted Paint n' Pour, an activity designed to illustrate the value of painting as it relates to self-care. Capturing a scene of spring, each student was provide an easel, canvas, paint and brushes, to create their own backdrop of tranquility. Following along with a visual tutorial or working independently, students escaped the stressors of the day and channeled their inner Van Gogh. Check out the finished examples below!

Let Love Grow - February 2024

Love blooms when it's nurtured with time, gentleness, and care. On February 14th, the Wellness Center put together an activity where students and staff planted flower seeds to celebrate Valentine's Day and called it, "Let Love Grow."  The goal for this activity is for students to be able to practice patience, accountability and nurturance for their flower that will later bloom if properly taken care of. This is a representation of how we (the flowers) can practice self-love by nurturing ourselves and how this love that we grow within, translates into our relationships.
