I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I look forward to meeting each of you, getting to know you, and growing together as learners and individuals. We will do wonderful things together in our classroom.
In our Sangha grade team, my class will be partnering with Katlin Bartell and her classroom. I will be teaching writing to both groups of students, and Katlin will be teaching math to both groups. It is my goal to create a classroom that is supportive, uplifting, and affirming for each child. The academic expectations are high in my classroom, and so is the level of support. My belief is that teaching is the most important work in the world, and I consider it a privilege to work with your child.
A little extra about me for parents:
I am a born and bred Vermonter; I grew up in Fayston, Vermont. I come from a family of educators; my mother was a public high school history teacher for 40 years, and my father was the headmaster of Green Mountain Valley School, a local ski academy in Fayston. I attended Vermont public schools and spent my last two years of high school at Phillips Exeter Academy. I received my bachelor’s degree in political science and art history from Middlebury College. After graduating from Middlebury College, I enrolled in Saint Michael’s College Master’s of Arts in Teaching program to fulfill a lifelong dream: to teach primary school, the age that I’ve always connected to most deeply.
I’ll be teaching summer school at Waitsfield Elementary School this July. In the intervening moments, you can catch me mountain biking, playing my guitar, cooking, paddle boarding and reading plenty of good books.
