Tempera paint is the general paint we use. It is great for paper and learning to mix colors.
It isn't great for surfaces that are not paper.

Acrylic Paint is a permanent paint that has lots of potentials. Here are some reasons to use it:
You want to work with layers of paint. Lots of layers.
You are painting paper-mache.
You are painting something other than paper (canvas, wood, etc.)
