PiE is here to support our community of learners. When we as a community support our school, and teachers have the resources they need to do their best work possible – everybody wins. One of the ways PiE does this is by raising money to put directly back into our school.
PiE does not share it's fundraising with other schools in the consolidated district. What is raised at HCS, stays at HCS.
By far, the greatest expenditure of money raised goes directly to supporting classroom teachers. The spending is discretionary, but mostly the teachers use the funding for field trips and classroom supplies.
Fundraising dollars are also put toward the Grant Program, Staff Appreciation, and supporting HCS families

Each year, PiE designates a portion of its budget to qualified grant applicants from within the school community. These grants are intended as a way for HCS teachers to gain funding for special classroom projects or needs, using a simple application form and quick decision process. PiE has granted over $20,000 since 2012 when the program first started, with a dedicated committee of volunteers working with the Co-Principals to review and assess the applications and make the final decisions on an annual basis.
In the past, the PiE Grant Program has funded Paul Rocheleau's "crankie" projects, a Maker Space for the 5th grade, a Worm Composting Kit for the 2nd grade, storytelling by Dennis McSorley, summer camp scholarships, the DreamBox Math Program, sound equipment for the Music/Theatre Departments, Science Discovery Kits for 4th grade, guest writers/performing artists, instrument repairs, and Jazz Band polo shirts. To name a few.
Pictured below is a picture of one of our 20/21 Grant Recipients. Tom Darling and the 8th Grade team were able to purchase a high-end screen press and materials to create tshirts, with a logo they designed, for the entire 8th grade to help build a sense of community.
