We will recognise all the age champions at a morning Assembly on Friday 21 November. We apologise for the delay, due to a timetabled event.

Unfortunately the rescheduled 15&U Touch Football on 5 November has now been cancelled due to a ground upgrade limiting capacity.
The 2026 championships are expected to be in Term 1 next year currently booked for Palm Beach, QLD.

Congratulations to Maya Brand (Year 7) who represented CVAS and NCIS at the CIS Athletics Championships in Sydney yesterday. Maya achieved a fantastic result, placing 3rd in the 12 Year old Girls Long Jump. Well done, Maya!We also had four other students competing in Primary and Secondary, once the official results are released we will let you know their results.

The rescheduled NCIS 15&U Football (Soccer) took place on Thursday 18 September at Coffs Harbour. In a topsy turvy day we had some close games, blowouts and a victory. Well done to the Boys on a gutsy effort all day, never giving up!

NCIS Athletics Championship 2025
On Wednesday 13 August, 80 of our students competed at the NCIS Athletics Championships in Kingscliff. It was an action-packed day full of fierce competition and outstanding sportsmanship. Our athletes gave it their best, jumping at the chance to display their determination to achieve their personal bests.A huge congratulations to our students who placed in the overall championships for their age groups:NCIS Athletics Championship 2025
- Maya Brand was crowned the overall NCIS Champion for 12-year-old girls! Maya's winning streak included a first-place finish in Long Jump, two second-place finishes in High Jump and Shot Put and three third-place finishes in Discus, Javelin, and the 100m.
- Llywellen Lloyd was the overall NCIS Champion for 18-year-old boys! He absolutely sprinted to victory, claiming first place in both the 800m and 400m, and securing two second-place finishes in the 200m and 100m.
- Tilda Vary secured a fantastic second place overall for 14-year-old girls. She took first place in the 200m, second in Long Jump, and third in the 100m.
- Chantell Claydon (3rd in 15-year-old Girls Long Jump)
- Sara Evans (3rd in 12-year-old Girls 800m)
- Finn McIntyre (1st in 12-13 Primary Boys Shot Put)

A huge congratulations to our incredible Staff and Student teams who took on the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge over the final weekend of the holidays. Competing in the gruelling 30km and 48km events through the rugged Gold Coast hinterland, our teams truly lived out the Kokoda values of courage, endurance, mateship, and sacrifice.From steep climbs and creek crossings to hours of trekking through tough terrain, each participant demonstrated remarkable resilience and teamwork. The Challenge is not only a physical and mental test, but also raises funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation, supporting youth programs across the country.Well done to all involved—you’ve made our school proud!

Our Open Boys Basketball team truly bounced back at the NCIS Championships! Playing a grueling eight games in one day, these eight lads gave it their all, showing incredible determination. They had some nail-biting finishes and even snagged a slam-dunk victory against Blue Hills College from Lismore. A massive shout-out to the boys for their tireless efforts!And let's not forget Arya Little, who dominated the court as part of the NCIS Barbarians Team. Arya showcased some seriously strong performances throughout the day, often outplaying girls from even the toughest teams. Way to go Arya, and well done to all our basketball players.

Coffs Coast Classic School Surfing Competition
The Coffs Coast Classic School Surfing Competition at Mullawarra Beach was a real barrel of fun, and our very own Tilda Vary was right in the thick of it! Competing against 66 other students from schools like BCD, JPC, Maclean, Coffs Harbour, Bellingen Highs, and McAuley’s, Tilda truly made waves.She surfed her way to a strong second-place finish in her heat, carving out a spot in the semi-finals. While she narrowly missed out on the top four for the final, her performance was outstanding. McAuley’s might have boarded the winning position in the Junior Girls, but Tilda's effort was certainly something to ride home about!

Our annual CVAS Athletics Carnival at Barnier Park on Tuesday, June 10th, was an absolute blast, despite a rather chilly start to the morning! The dedicated distance runners kicked things off with the gruelling 1500m and 3000m events, showing incredible grit right from the get-go.As the sun warmed up, so did the competition! There was an incredible display of house spirit and mate-ship throughout the day, with students cheering each other on in every event. We saw some truly impressive efforts, from the big throws in discus and shot put to blazing sprints and soaring long jumps. Every student who participated contributed to a fantastic atmosphere of healthy competition and fun.A massive thank you goes out to all the staff involved in running the carnival – we truly couldn't have done it without your tireless efforts and dedication. We also extend our gratitude to the Grafton Athletics Association and Westlawn Football Club for the use of their excellent facilities and equipment. And of course, thank you to all the parents who came along to support our athletes; your presence made the day even more special.We're still finalising some of the results, with our High Jump events yet to be fully completed back at school. We'll be holding an assembly at the beginning of Term 2 to recognise the outstanding achievements of our athletes.For those athletes who placed in the Top 3, the next step is the NCIS Athletics Championships which will be held at Kingscliff on Wednesday 13 August. We wish them the very best as they prepare to represent CVAS at the next level!

CVAS has three teams this term competing in the Australian Esports League’s High School Esports CompetitionsGood Luck to CVAS Gold and CVAS Blue in the Rocket League Competition and Caitlyn Hutchins in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate competition each Saturday for Weeks this Term. Our CVAS Gold Team placed 4th in Division 2 in Australia.Congratulations on this fantastic achievement!

48 athletes (Years 3-10) competed strongly at the NCIS Cross Country Championships on Wednesday, May 7th, at Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School. Despite the sunny and challenging hilly course, all runners persevered. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Notably, 5 athletes sprinted their way into the top 15 of their events, qualifying them for the CIS Cross Country Championships in Sydney later this year. Stay tuned for updates on their progress. Five talented swimmers, Olivia Benson, Bella McMahon-Willott, Joshua Dorsett, Logan Gault and Maya Brand, represented our school and NCIS at the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Swimming Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on 5 & 6 May. The electric atmosphere provided an unforgettable experience as they competed against top swimmers from across NSW. Focused on personal bests, their participation at this level reflects significant commitment and sportsmanship. This valuable experience will aid their swimming careers. Well done! Tweed Heads played host to the NCIS Netball Championships earlier this week, and our school's Girls 15&U and Boys Open teams displayed determination and grit throughout a challenging day of competition.Both teams faced well drilled opposition, and notably our teams included individuals with limited or no prior netball experience that were keen to take the opportunity to have a go. Despite this, they tackled each game with enthusiasm. Mr. Ross, who accompanied the teams, was particularly impressed by their refusal to give up. He emphasised that this resilience, in the face of adversity will undoubtedly serve them well in the future.Adding to their commendable performance, the Open Boys team achieved a well-deserved 3rd place. While the day presented its difficulties for all teams, there were also moments of brilliance. These flashes of skill provide a solid foundation upon which to build from and we look forward to developing these talents through focused training and preparation into the future.A special note of appreciation goes to Ms. Lennon, who stepped in at short notice to allow the Girls 15&U team to enter this year. Her willingness to assist ensured the girls had the opportunity to compete, and her efforts on the day are greatly valued.

The NCIS Secondary Swimming Championship took place on 20 February at the Alstonville Aquatic Centre. We had 23 Secondary Swimmers compete in most grades and events. A brilliant day of Swimming for the CVAS team coming 2nd Place in the Percentage Points out of all schools in Attendance. We also had 5 of our students qualify for the CIS Championships in Sydney in May. Congratulations

The NCIS Swimming Carnival took place on 26 February at the Alstonville Aquatic Centre. We had 20 Primary Swimmers compete in most grades and events. A fantastic day of Swimming and Action at the Pool. Thanks to all parents and our swimming team for the great day.
