The annual CVAS Cross Country Carnival held at the Clarenza Campus on Monday 23 March was an absolute triumph, filled with incredible house spirit and outstanding athletic performances from our Years 3–12 students. Under perfectly cloudy, 24-degree skies, the campus came alive as runners tackled the challenging 2500m and 5000m courses with phenomenal energy, determination, and sportsmanship. From the blazing-fast finishes in the senior secondary races to the enthusiastic participation of our youngest primary competitors, the afternoon was a brilliant showcase of our school community and athletic talent. A massive congratulations to all who gave it their all, and a special shoutout to our podium finishers—the top three runners in each event have officially earned an invitation to represent CVAS at the NCIS championships later this term!

NCIS Primary and Secondary Touch Championship
Our four CVAS teams delivered solid performances at the NCIS Primary and Secondary Touch Football championships held up in Palm Beach, Queensland on Friday 27 March. It was undoubtedly a long but incredibly rewarding and challenging day for everyone, with the squads boarding the bus for an early 5:30 am departure and not returning until 6:30 pm. Despite the massive hours and tough competition on the Gold Coast, our students played with exceptional skill, teamwork, and relentless energy.
The sportsmanship and dedication displayed across the field by all four teams were absolutely fantastic to witness. To top off such an outstanding road trip two of our players have been sleevted to represent NCIS down in Sydney thos term. Well done Khyrin and Tilda.

The Coffs Harbour School Futsal Titles
What an incredible two days at the Coffs Futsal Titles! Our students took to the court with intensity, heart, and a level of skill that made us all proud.
It was a massive two days of fast-paced action. Our teams went head-to-head against some tough competition, and the grit on display was outstanding. A huge shoutout to our U13 Boys and U15 Boys, who both made it to the Finals.
Beyond the court was the unwavering camaraderie. Whether it was our younger girls stepping up with zero hesitation to fill in for the U15 girls or the way every player supported their teammates from the sidelines, the sportsmanship was second to none.
Participating in these titles is an important aspect of our Academy. These competitions are vital for testing our students' growth, building resilience, and fostering a true team culture that extends far beyond the school gates.
The talent didn't go unnoticed, either! We are thrilled to announce that several of our students have been selected to represent the Far North Coast at the Titles in Brisbane later this year. What a phenomenal opportunity to showcase their skills on an even bigger stage!
Congratulations to every player who wore the jersey this week. You represented our school with absolute class.

The 15&U Girls team had a good showing at the NCIS Secondary Girls Netball Championships in Tweed Heads on Tuesday 24 March. Despite a very early 6:00 am departure from school to ensure they were ready for the opening centre pass of the entire competition, our girls hit the courts with incredible energy, focus, and school spirit.
They played with pride and skill throughout the tournament, showcasing outstanding teamwork, sharp passing, and relentless defense to secure a fantastic, well-deserved win. It was a hugely rewarding trip for the squad. Onwards and upwards Girls!

The footy season is almost here, and we’re inviting the CVAS Community to join our official NRL Tipping Competition. It is completely free to enter and hosted via NRL.com, offering a fantastic way to engage with our school community and showcase your tipping prowess (or just test your luck!). Whether you’re a die-hard league fan or a casual observer, we’d love to see you on the leaderboard for a season of friendly rivalry.

What a Splash our 20 CVAS students made on Wednesday 25 February at the NCIS Primary Swimming Championships in Alstonville! The competition went swimmingly, with a massive pool of talent featuring 266 students from 12 different schools all bringing their best. Our team really dove into the challenge, and with an impressive 7 NCIS records broken across the board, it’s clear the day was an absolute stroke of genius. "Water way" to represent the school—we are completely buoyed by everyone's fantastic effort and sportsmanship!

NCIS Tennis Championships hosterd by CVAS
We hosted the NCIS Primary and Secondary Tennis Championship on Tuesday 10 February at the Grafton Tennis Club, bringing together 80 competitors from across nine schools. The day featured a high standard of play and a great atmosphere, with students competing across all divisions with both skill and sportsmanship.
CVAS was represented by a team of four primary and three secondary students who put in a strong showing against a deep field of talent.
A special congratulations goes to Tekoa Walsh (Year 10), who put together an impressive run to place 3rd overall in the Secondary Girls Grade. It was a hard-earned result in a very competitive bracket—well done, Tekoa!

On Friday 30 January CVAS gathered at the Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre for our 26th Annual Swimming Carnival. It was a fantastic day filled with House spirit and personal bests,From the mass House Warm-up lap to the competitive 50m heats, the participation across all of Phoenix, Sovereign, Induna, and Kallatina. A special shout-out to our parents who clinched victory in the highly anticipated Staff vs. Students vs. Parents relay! The bar continues to rise, with four school records being broken as students swam to glory to be on the Records page.A massive thank you to the CVAS staff, the Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre team, and the many parents who attended to support our swimmers.The competition continues for our representative swimmers at the NCIS Swimming Championships in Alstonville: Primary: are on Wednesday February 25 and Secondary are on Tuesday, March 4. Further details and permission notes for qualifying athletes will be distributed shortly.

On Thursday 13 November we sent five CVAS teams to compete in the Northern NSW Anglican Schools Cup, taking on other schools in Netball, 6-a-side Soccer, and Volleyball.It was a huge day of competition with plenty of action. Our Volleyballers really served up a challenge, and our Soccer teams definitely hit their goals. Across the board, we saw a massive amount of points scored and a great effort from everyone involved.

On Friday November 7 we took to the field for the annual Clarence Valley High Schools Touch Football CupWe proudly entered a combined Girls' team featuring students from the Year 9/10 and Year 11 grades, strengthened by the inclusion of some dynamic Year 7/8 players. This mixed age group demonstrated teamwork and excellent sportsmanship throughout afternoon.The team played three incredibly well-contested matches against Maclean High School, Grafton High School, and McAuley Catholic College. In these tough games our side proved their tenacity, narrowly going down by just a couple of tries in each game.However, the highlight of the day was an absolute belter of a game against a notoriously strong South Grafton High School team. Our girls delivered a gutsy performance, showcasing slick passing and determined defense to secure a brilliant 3-1 victory! This win was a testament to their spirit and skill.We are now setting our sights on the NCIS Touch Football Championships in Term 1 next year. This event will be held at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast and we have plans to field both 15 & Under Boys and Girls teams and hopefully an Open Girls team.

A wave of talent hit Sawtell Beach on Monday October 27 for the NCIS Surfing Championships, with over 40 competitors in attendance.
It was a gloriously hot and sunny day, making for perfect conditions to catch some serious surfing performances.We are proud to celebrate the efforts of Tilda Vary, who shredded the competition n Heat 2 of the U16 Girls grade, securing a brilliant first place finish and progressing to the semi-finals.Tilda continued to deliver her best in the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on a spot in the final by just one place. While she didn't make the final cut, her performance was certainly carving a path for her future. Well done on the "fin-tastic" Surfing!

Our rescheduled Cross Country Carnival and Splash and Dash took place on Friday 17 October.
We recognised all the age champions at a morning Assembly in Term 4.
We are scheduled to run our Cross Country in Term 1 in 2026.

Congratulations to Maya Brand (Year 7) who represented CVAS and NCIS at the CIS Athletics Championships in Sydney yesterday. Maya achieved a fantastic result, placing 3rd in the 12 Year old Girls Long Jump. Well done, Maya!We also had four other students competing in Primary and Secondary, once the official results are released we will let you know their results.
