Former CVA Graduates Send Messages
My name is Jianna Scalise and I am a former student of Central Valley High School. I graduated in June of 2020, and went on to attend Herkimer College, majoring in childhood education. I am on track to graduate from Herkimer in May of 2022. This semester I have been taking a total of 6 classes, all while working part-time to pay off my college funds. I balance my social life and school work fairly well, but don’t get me wrong, it does become overwhelming at times. My advice to the students graduating in the next few years is to always put in your best effort and it will most definitely pay off. Central Valley has many college courses to offer to the students and I encourage all of you to take as many as you can. I also encourage students to take risks. My first semester of college was online, so I decided to go out of my comfort zone and move south. I found that it wasn’t my cup of tea at the time, since I was only 18 years old and on my own for the first time. Looking back, I am very glad I took that opportunity because I would be constantly saying to myself “what if?" With that being said, if you are given an opportunity and you are hesitant at first, just do it! Challenge yourself and live life to its fullest!

Keagan Case - 2020 Graduate
Keagan Case also graduated in 2020, and he took the time to make a video to explain his choices. Keagan is very happy with the trade he has chosen, and did emphasize that it's hard work, but college wasn't for him, and he loves being out in his field making money!
Cierra Doolen - 2020 Graduate
One thing I wish I did differently was to ignore every person who doubted me. High school will be what people make it out to be, and you, as students, need to define your own experiences. It goes by too fast, so you have to take risks, take in every moment, and be absolutely fearless. Stick up for what you believe in, and never let anyone take your voice away from you. Before you know it, it’ll be over, so if you have something you want to say or do, do it now!
Some of you may be freshman or seniors, but no matter what grade you are in, start your journey now. Start a change, be yourself, and forget everyone else. Love hard, and love whomever you want to love. Stick up for your beliefs, accept others' beliefs, and be kind. You’ll remember these days for the rest of your life. High school can be tough, but at the end of the day, you make it what it's worth.
Lastly, I'd like to give a message to the current seniors. My last year I didn’t pay attention to the little things, and I regret that. Do all the corny senior activities because if you don’t, you will wish you did. Go to school every day, and appreciate every day. Say thank you to your teachers, classmates, and everyone else who works in the school. Never take anything for granted, because you will want these days back. Life outside of high school is a lot different, but do not stress about graduation and moving on. Stay in the moment, and worry about the big things later.

Tanner Vogel - 2020 Graduate
My name is Tanner Vogel, and I am a former student of Central Valley High School. I graduated in June of 2020. I now attend Herkimer College, and am majoring in physical education. I am graduating from Herkimer College in May of 2022. My plans after I graduate college is to become a trooper for New York State.
After graduating highschool, I worked full-time over the summer, which took up most of my time to do anything throughout the day, but I still found ways to enjoy the summer with my friends and family and it prepared me for life. I now work part-time at the same place due to schoolwork. I take five classes and there is a lot of work to be done, which can be hard at times because you have to find time for homework, friends, and family, and all in a little bit of time.
My advice to the students graduating in the next few years is to just do your best and apply yourself, take the college courses, because trust me, they pay off when you get to college. My best recommendation is to also just have fun. High school is where you will have some of the best times with your friends, and after you graduate, reality hits, your life-long friends start leaving, you have to start working and figuring out your life, and things are just different. So basically what I am saying is to just have fun with the time you have and work to your best potential, because it will pay off in the future, and you will be happy with the choices you made in high school.
