Grading Policy
Percent Source
80% Assessments
20% Classwork
100% Total grade
Classwork credit is given for completion (effort) not correctness. To earn credit the calculation setup and all relevant drawings must be included. Each assignment is worth 4 points. An incomplete assignment (setup/work missing) is worth 3 points. Late classwork is accepted. Full credit will be given for an assignment submitted late 1 week or less from the due date. Beyond 1 week from the due date, a late assignment will earn 2 points, within the current quarter. Missing Classwork is valued at 2 points (50%) in the Aeries Gradebook. Extra credit may be earned on a Classwork assignment (+1 point for teaching other students, or finding multiple solution methods to problems in the assignment).
Note: Classwork is excused (NA, Not Applicable, in the Gradebook) on days when a student is absent. However, a student may submit the classwork for absent days and receive credit should they choose to complete the assignment.
Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday, in general. Homework is for practice, review, and preparation for tests. Homework is not included in the class grade. Homework answers are reviewed in class and some of the solutions are reviewed, as well.
