Your child will learn about:

• Comparing numbers to 10 identifying them as having greater than, less than or equal. 

• Adding onto 5 to compose numbers 6-10.  (5 and 2 make 7, 5 and 4 make 9)

• Decomposing numbers through 10 into parts.  (9 is equal to 5 and 4, 9 is equal to 6 and 3)

• Addition and subtraction with numbers through 10.

• Solving math word problems with pictures, numbers and words.

Essential Standards

By the end of trimester 2:

• Students will recognize and write numbers from 0-10 in and out of sequence.

• Students will count the number of objects to 10 even if the objects are arranged differently.

• Students will compare numbers to 10 identifying them as having greater than, less than or equal.

• Students will decompose numbers 6-10 to see 5 within a number.  (6=5+1, 7=5+2)
