The UC/CSU Collaborative on Neurodiversity provides free resources on arrayalearning.org designed to support educator preparation programs in meeting some of the requirements outlined in California Senate Bill 488 (SB 488). California Senate Bill 488 (SB 488) primarily focuses on revising teacher credentialing requirements related to literacy instruction. Specifically, it mandates that teacher preparation programs in California align their curriculum with the "science of reading" and incorporate the California Dyslexia Guidelines. This means new teachers will be better prepared to teach foundational reading skills like phonics and phonological awareness, and to provide support for students with dyslexia. The following free resources aim to ensure that teacher candidates are well-prepared to deliver evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with current state standards, various aspects of TPE 7, and the California Dyslexia Guidelines.
Foundational Literacy Skills and Dyslexia (forthcoming)
