Welcome to the Cupertino Union School District Teacher Induction Program! We are honored you have chosen our school district and are looking forward to working with you.
The Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) Teacher Induction Program is approved and accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) as a pathway for teachers to clear their Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Educational Specialist teaching credential. The CUSD Induction Program is a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning that begins in a teacher’s first year of teaching.
CUSD is a single-district program providing support, professional development, and assessment for new teachers as they transition from pre-service to credentialed teaching. Individualized support and assistance is provided to new teachers through the services of a knowledgeable mentor. The goal of this support is to improve the educational performance of students and to enable the new teacher to be effective in teaching students who are culturally, linguistically, socio-economically, and academically diverse.
Induction programs must be based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and on statewide Induction Program Preconditions and Standards. The CUSD Teacher Induction Program assures that each participating teacher is assigned a mentor teacher within the first 30 days of the participant’s enrollment in the program and receives an average of not less than one hour per week of individualized, job-embedded support/mentoring coordinated and/or provided by the mentor. Participation in the CUSD Induction Program provides participants with an opportunity to increase student learning; and, an opportunity to reflect upon development as a teacher with another professional.
