This class is for students who have not yet taken band at CMS. This is for students who have never played a band instrument before, AND for students who played in elementary school, but have not taken a band class at CMS. No previous experience required (except percussion). Students will learn to read music and play the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone horn, tuba, and percussion (piano experience and an interview/audition required for percussion only). Students will learn a variety of musical styles and perform in several evening concerts throughout the school year. Home practicing is required. Here's your chance to be part of the band!

Band is open to students who played a band instrument in school for at least one year. Students will continue developing existing skills, learn new music, and refine their musicianship. Continuing students also have the option to switch to other instruments that are not well represented in the instrumental section on a case by cases basis. All types of music are explored and evening concerts are given throughout the year. Band instruments include: French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, tuba, clarinet, flute, oboe, saxophone (alto, tenor, baritone), bass clarinet, bassoon, and percussion. This is a year-long course.

"All the world's a stage" as some might choose to see it. Now is the time to follow that inner voice or nudge the person next to you who you know loves to perform, be silly and creative. Be prepared to let your imagination run wild as you work together with your classmates to bring stories to life. This class has different performance opportunities each semester that allow students to shine on and off stage.
This class is meant to provide an opportunity for students to delve deeper into the acting and performing aspects of theater. Students will focus more on acting, character development and scene work. They will also engage in musical theater components of singing and dancing. This class will consist of individual and group projects and performances including monologues, one-acts, cabarets, flash mob, and more.
Drama 2 is a year-long course.

The Dance elective is a great choice for your elective class. In dance you will learn various dances including cultural dances, jazz, ballet, pop etc. You will have the opportunity to create your own dances in small groups and teach it to the class. There are many opportunities to perform for various groups, both large and small, during the semester. In addition to dancing, this class provides strategies for relieving stress through yoga and stretches. Dance class is more than just an elective; it is a community where you can express yourself through movement and dance.
This is a performance based class.
Outside of school performance may be required.
