Want to get a head start on computer science before high school? This is an introductory computer science course targeted at upper middle school (grades 7-8). The course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as problem solving and logic, programming, physical computing, data, and HTML/CSS. Students are empowered to create software and engage with Computer Science as a medium for creativity, communication, and problem solving.
Students will design and create computer games and develop phone apps. They will have the opportunity to create apps that interface with the circuit playground, a micro-computer external board. If time permits, students will also create a multi-page website using HTML and CSS. Computer Science is a one semester class for any 7th and 8th graders who is ready to take on a challenge and plans to have fun. This course is aligned with Computer Science Principles or AP Computer Science Principles in High School.
