Welcome, Bobcat Parents and Families!
Welcome to your one-stop hub for Blue Hills' Virtual Learning! Here, you can locate your child's specific teachers, you can check updates on posted assignments, virtually check in with staff, and receive reminders so that each student can follow an in-home learning program. Your grade level team has also developed an At-Home Schedule that they suggest you consider. Your teacher has chosen to assign work to their class on a daily or weekly schedule, depending on the classroom teacher's preference. School work will be graded, and standards-based report cards will resume. Teachers will be providing meaningful feedback on the work that students complete and will be keeping track of which assignments have been returned/not returned by students.
Our 2020-21 CUSD Remote Teaching & Learning Plan has been elevated and improved at Blue Hills! Blue Hills teachers have been preparing throughout the summer to plan support for all students’ social, emotional, and academic needs through a mix of synchronous (live teaching) and asynchronous (independent) learning experiences coupled with multiple weekly opportunities for small groups or one-on-one support. Students will be expected to engage in learning every day, with expectations aligning with the core standards, and assessments helping teachers better support student learning. These components mimic a typical school day of in-person instruction. Please work closely with your classroom teachers, myself, and with our school specialists to help your child get the new school year off to a good start.
Our school does fully understand the tremendous impact that remote learning has on families - parents are navigating their own remote careers while also assisting their children with class assignments throughout the day. Please know that everyone is working with compassion, flexibility and understanding.
Wishing you health and happy learning,
-Ms. Mitchell
