March Madness for Books!

In 2019, I started participating in this world-wide event. Students loved the weekly voting and cheering on their favorites. There were some tough decisions when favorites were pitted against each other and there were cheers and groans as we continued the process. We added a number of great books to the library with PTO support. Students worked their way through the books in the brackets. Books were labeled with an Orange MM label.

In 2021 we did it again. We started earlier and our students nominated books they felt deserved to be on the brackets. We were fortunate that Bo's Machine Shop in Greensboro donated the funding to purchase books! Last year the books at the bottom of the bracket had at least 9 votes! This is another really exciting way for students to make their voices heard and get excited about reading while participating in the global community of learners.
