New Market will be looking for a new team for the 2023-2024 school year!

If you love to read books this might be the club for you! You will be asked to read as many of the books on the list as you can.  You will also be asked to become an expert on 3-5 books. An expert must read that book several times and know as many of the details as possible.  All team members will need to know the titles and authors exactly as they are on the list to the right.

Students will apply for membership on the team at the beginning of school.  All students will be given a title and author quiz at the beginning of October.  Those that do well will move forward. Our final competition team will be comprised of students who did well well on the title author quiz, attend practice sessions, work well as a team member, do the required reading and questions and are enjoying the process. 

Students will spend the year preparing for the Battle against other Currituck County Schools. We will compete against all of the other elementary schools in the county for the trophy!

Students will be asked questions such as:

Q: In which book did a character fly on a magic carpet?

A: Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston

 All questions follow the same format. Students earn 2 points for each correct title and 1 point for each correct author. Author points only get awarded if title is correct.
