North Central Area Vocational Cooperative
COVID-19 Return to School Plan
202-2022
The following guidelines were created for CTE courses for the North Central Area Vocational Cooperative as it relates to COVID-19. These health and safety protocols are intended to be the best possible methods of protecting all students, staff, and administrators. They are created to increase the chances of completing the academic year without interruption. All protocols were devised with the resources and best practices known at this time to prevent any outbreak.
All content in this document is subject to change based upon further Executive Orders of the Governor, directives from the Indiana Department of Health, or guidance from other local, state, or federal public health officials.
School Calendar
CTE courses will be conducted, as scheduled, following the school calendar of the host school corporation.
Delivery Method
The following are delivery options for CTE courses per the Governor’s Workforce
Cabinet and the Indiana Office of CTE:
Delivery Method 2020-21 SY Funding
Classroom course (face-to-face) Fully funded
Virtual (online-synchronous) Fully funded (for approved courses)
Blended (Hybrid) Fully Funded (must meet hands-on requirements)
Online Only Not funded
NCAVC is a Career and Technical (CTE) organization and must adhere to the CTE standards set by the Governor's Workforce Cabinet. This means in person training and laboratory experiences are required as part of the curriculum for many courses.
CTE courses are offered in two ways: at the local high schools (enrolled students are from the conducting high school only) and shared programs (enrolled students are from multiple high schools).
Local CTE programs may be conducted in any of the formats mentioned above, as long as the course meets the guidelines established by the Indiana Office of CTE (see attached document provided by the Indiana Office of Career and Technical Education).
Because of the importance of the hands-on component of each of our shared CTE programs (students that attend a CTE course from multiple high schools), shared programs will not have an online option. Shared programs will be conducted in a classroom course (face-to-face).
Social Distancing Protocols
Shared (students that attend a CTE course from multiple high schools) CTE courses will follow the COVID-19 guidelines of the host school corporation.
Students will adhere to the social distancing guidelines of the host school corporation.
Classes will practice social distancing whenever possible. Due to the size of some classrooms, it may not be possible at all times. Seating will be spaced as far apart as possible.
Use of face masks
Students will follow the guidelines of the host school regarding the use of face masks.
Our participating partners will follow the guidelines of their local school corporation.
Exception to above:
If the participating partner has guidelines that are more restrictive than their local school corporation, students will abide by the more stringent guidelines.
Example: Cosmetology students are required to wear face masks, even though this may not be a requirement of Knox
Community Schools (local corporation).
Participation
If a guest student is unwilling/unable to follow the guidelines established at the host school site, the guest student will not be permitted to continue in the CTE program.
