Anger, Is It an Enemy or a Friend?

Janet Jiahui Wu

the heat of my blood strong enough to bulldoze a brand new lineage of the remaining

Amazon rain forest

the clock of my poor head ticking ticking  ticking  ticking  ticking  ticking

the stones of my shoulders split open

the deaf and mute of my limbs cradling the valley of my soul that went down down

down  and

down

the river of my sins surging and swirling with the dam of my unthinking

annihilating seeds and sprouts of repentance and means

to extricate myself

so the shadow of my sleep trampled by sturdy herds of mad-eyed wildebeests

melted into the morning birds full of songs

but still

at remembering

five and fifty thousand armies marching over mountains of my ineffection

laying useless and befouled

the putrid bowels

of my wasted earth
