This institution was established in 1901, and it was name Cebu School
Arts and Trade. As the years move on it was renamed Cebu State College of Science and Technology. During this time all courses were monitored by the Bureau of Technical Vocational Education (BTVE), and at the same time Technical Skills Vocational Education (TESDA) joined in the early 1990s, yet in the middle of 90s BTVT was dissolved and TESDA still man the courses. Moreover, in 1996 Commission on Higher Education (CHED) was created, and the latter was the in-charge of the Baccalaureate degree programs, and the TESDA manage the Technical or the 2 year course programs.
The Associate in Hotel and Restaurant Services Technology program was established in 1992 as an offspring of the highly regarded technology courses offered by the Arts and Trade school. As the years passed quickly, the program underwent a number of revisions before the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) issued the most recent CMO 62, S. 2017.
Consequently, the Creation of new college, in CTU Main Campus the College of Management and Entrepreneurship (CME) in September 2019 under the Resolution No. 06, s. 2016. The College of Management & Entrepreneurship envisions itself as a dynamic , socially responsible and committed educational institution geared towards the development of outstanding leaders imbued with the Christian values in the fields of management , finance, marketing, entrepreneurship and public administration.
To achieve our vision, we commit ourselves to develop outstanding and socially competitive leaders and managers. The College values its role as educational leaders enhancing change and responding to the complex needs of those it serves. A Resolution No. 24 s. 2018 Approving the Proposed University -wide Curricular Program Revisions . In the new Resolution No. 26 s. 2018 Approving the New Curricular Programs to be Offered. A Resolution No. 123,s. 2019 confirming the New Designations in the Different Key Positions of the Cebu Technological University .
After completing their On-The-Job Training (OJT) programs in the partnering hotels and restaurants, the majority of our graduates were hired right away. A few had their own firm, and very few were jobless. Before the COVID 19 epidemic, we dispatched our OJT to Thailand, Singapore, and the USA.
Recently, we sent a group of students to Thailand during the height of the covid epidemic. We were all concerned after that incident as faculty members of the BSHM, and the OJT Coordinator in particular was confused of what to do. However, the loco parentis approach is followed by the CTU Administration, who is quite kind and thus able to facilitate things. Their hotel in Thailand handled their travel arrangements so that our students could have a priority flight home. The school bus was used to pick up our students at the airport and deliver them all to their front doors.
The BSHM Department adopts policy under CMO No. 104.,S. 2017 which is stipulated in the students’ manual. As a result, the manual includes detailed policies on the grading system, admission and retention, promotion, and intervention. Additionally, the teachers use several approaches to ensure that the students properly grasp the material. In fact, at the height of the pandemic, the institution gave each faculty member a laptop computer so they could continue to shape the minds of the students. They also gave each student a connectivity kit, which could be either a smart/pldt or globe kit.
The department now employs four permanent faculty members, including the chairman. Of these, 75% hold a license to teach, 50% hold doctoral degrees, and the remaining 50% are working on their dissertations. However, 100% of the faculty members are holders of different TESDA NC II, and III, in different skill specializations, and 25% are regional lead assessors for Ships Catering NC III. Additionally, a further 25% of the faculty members were trained in trainers' methodology and hold a NATIONAL TVET TRAINERS CERTIFICATE (NTTC) Level III. Another 25% were trained on ISO:, a Regional Quality
Assessment Team (RQAT) member, and accreditor of Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP).
The department also intends to keep assisting the faculty by establishing a career path for all faculty members for the AY. 2022–2026 for them to continue making progress and growing as professionals. For Academic Year The study project, "Utilization of Coconut Coir as Food Additives/Enhancer," is being worked on by Dr. Narvios and Dr. Quiñones from 2022 to 2026. They are currently seeking collaboration, particularly for funding on the project. Additionally, the remaining 50% of the faculty is focusing on their ongoing research project.
Additionally, the faculty will schedule their time so that they can focus on the department's extension initiatives. As of the A.Y. 2023-2024, Prof. Delara and Dr. Narvios will embrace their volunteerism at Safe Heaven Rehabilitation, while Prof. Gabuya and Dr. Quiñones will lead the charge on the Phase III Kakugi sa pagpangalagad project in 2023–2024.
In addition to any extension programs that they may design and extend to the adopted community, each faculty member is obligated to provide at least 80 hours of service per academic year, and this will be credited for their volunteer hours.
The faculty members can take part in seminars, workshops, research fora, conferences, and other chances for professional development at the same time. Systematic and Effective Procedures (e.g. teaching method, curriculum development, testing, etc.)
